New Footpaths Programme approved by Council

We did it Hornby! The Springs Road footpath – the one I presented the petition on and that you signed – has been pushed right up to #1 priority. That’s a big win!

But Steadman Road and others have been shoved out by more than three years, even with massive growth and a rest home right there.

Instead, the money just keeps pouring into Halswell ($3.7m) and Riccarton ($6.6m). Hornby? We’ve received a single speed hump and a level crossing upgrade. That’s it, and it’s not good enough!

Only three people voted to build Hornby’s missing footpaths first. The rest voted to halve the number of footpaths we build and put many of them in Halswell first.

We’re being left behind. Again. If Hornby doesn’t have a strong voice, we’ll keep getting overshadowed while others cash in. Make sure your vote counts this September!

I live, work, and raise my young family in Hornby with my partner and our son. Like many locals, we want a safe, well-serviced community with proper investment in the basics.

I’ve worked with residents and Council to get results:

  • New footpaths, including along Wilmers Road. A petition I presented ultimately saw $19m of funding for new footpaths allocated – many of those new footpaths will be built in Hornby.
  • Upgraded parks, including the new Upper Riccarton War Memorial Park.
  • Better public transport facilities
  • Advocating for Amyes Road renewal and intersection improvements

I’ve reported and resolved over 600 local issues, from potholes and broken signs to faulty streetlights and graffiti.

And it made the media when Council tried to limit how many potholes I could report – but I spoke out because Hornby residents deserve a voice.

My priorities include:

  • Delivering Amyes Road renewal & intersection improvements
  • Building missing footpaths
  • Mitigating flooding
  • Better parks & playgrounds
  • Smarter spending

I’m not affiliated with any political party. I’m here to represent Hornby – and I get stuff done.
